As metro editor, Tom oversees local news content and supervises other
editors, reporters and support staff. He joined the Citizen Patriot
in July 2005 after spending four years as an assigning editor with
two South Carolina newspapers: The State in Columbia, and The Sun
News in Myrtle Beach. Previously, he was a reporter for more than six
years with The Kansas
City Star. He began his career as a sports writer, spending six years
between the Journal and Courier in Lafayette, Ind., and The Jackson
Sun in Tennessee.
A native of McPherson, Kan., Tom has a bachelor's degree in
journalism from Kansas State University. Tom and his wife, Jennifer,
have a daughter, Lily (born in 2002), and a son, Casey (born in
2004). They live in Jackson. Tom is an avid tennis player and devoted
fan of the K-State Wildcats.
