Principle duties include sports features and covering high school sports. Mike is also the point man for coverage of Championship Auto Racing Teams and NASCAR
during the summer months. He was born in Kalamazoo and is a graduate of Portage Northern High School and
Western Michigan University. Before coming to the Citizen Patriot in 1990, Mike was assistant sports editor
of the Naples (Fla.) Daily News (1987-90) and worked as a part-timer in the sports department at the Kalamazoo
Gazette (1980-86) while attending WMU. Mike lives in Summit Township with wife, Lori, and daughters, Paige and
Haylie. When he's not chasing down stories or trying to keep up with his girls, Mike enjoys surfing the Web,
playing computer sports-simulation games and managing a pair of hapless Rotisserie baseball teams.
