As editor at the Jackson Citizen Patriot, Eileen supervises the day-to-day operation of the editorial department,
including local news, sports, lifestyle and entertainment, business, photos and graphics, opinion and wire news
sections. She served as metro editor for 10 years, assistant metro editor for two years and feature editor for
two years. Prior to coming to Jackson, Eileen was a reporter at the Saginaw News. She has a master's in journalism
from Michigan State University and a high school teaching certificate; and serves on the Professional Advisory Council
of the MSU School of Journalism, and advisory boards for the MSU Hispanics in the Media program and Wayne State University's
Journalism Institute for Minorities. She and her husband, David Spalding, live in Jackson with their two children, Anne
and Adam.
