Jeff Bleiler was hired as a copy editor for the Citizen Patriot in March,
2003, returning to the newspaper that gave him his start in professional
journalism seven years earlier.
A graduate of Eastern Michigan University, Bleiler was a part-time sports
reporter for the Citizen Patriot in 1996 before landing a full-time position
on the sports staff a year later. He covered many beats, including NASCAR
races at Michigan International Speedway, harness racing at Jackson Harness
Raceway and a variety of high school sports.
March 2000, Bleiler accepted a public relations position at MIS where he
worked for more than two years as media relations manager for the state's
largest motorsports facility.
In July 2002, Bleiler was named marketing director of the Greater Jackson
Chamber of Commerce and then executive director of the Jackson Area
Manufacturers Association, a position he held until returning to the Citizen
Patriot.
He and his wife, Amy, live in Jackson with their son, Joseph, and daughter,
Jamie. He is an avid bowler and enjoys attending University of Michigan
football games with his wife.
